Recipe | Soondubu Jjigae/Korean Spicy Tofu Stew

April 19, 2020 25 Comments

I'm back with another korean food recipe. Sebenarnya dah berbulan lamanya entry ni tertangguh. Iolls dah pernah buat korean spicy stew ni dua ke tiga kali kot, memang syok la bila makan untuk dinner, panas-panas hirup kuah, pastu bertambah sedap bila makan sekali dengan seaweed! Nikmat!

Bahan-bahan:
  • 1 tablespoon minyak masak
  • 4 ulas bawang putih (dihiris)
  • 4 cawan air
  • Daging/ayam/fishcakes/anything you want to put
  • Cendawan/carrot (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon kicap
  • 1-2 stok kiub ikan bilis/stok kiub ayam
  • 4 tablespoon Gochujang paste
  • Soft tofu
  • 1-2 biji telur (kalau nak pecahkan telur dalam tu)
  • Black pepper
  • Garam

Cara-cara:
  1. Panaskan minyak, tumiskan daun bawang/bawang merah dan bawang putih.
  2. Masukkan air.
  3. Masukkan daging/ayam/fishcakes/cendawan/carrot/etc.
  4. Dalam mangkuk kecil, gaulkan Gochujang dengan kicap. Then, tuang dalam air mendidih tadi sampai larut.
  5. Masukkan stok kiub ikan bilis/stok kiub ayam tadi. Masukkan black pepper dan garam secukup rasa.
  6. Pecahkan telur ke dalam periuk.
  7. Masukkan soft tofu yang dah dipotong bentuk kiub. Jangan kacau kuah tu, takut nanti tofu tu berkecai. Instead, just tutup periuk dengan cover seketika untuk 5 minit.
  8. Siap!

p/s: Boleh je nak tambah more Gochujang kalau nak lebih kaw. Nak pedas boleh je tambah cili. No problemo~ Kita orang Melayu masak main agak-agak campak-campak je hohoho.

I have no better picture, but trust me, you should try making it yourself if you like korean food.

Community medicine in a nutshell + decent food here and there

April 09, 2020 11 Comments
Assalamualaikum and hai.

Since my 2 weeks holiday got extended to 2 months, I've got plenty of time to update my blog. Please expect a lot of throwback stuffs in my future entries. HAHA.

I would like to treasure the memories I made during Community Medicine. It was a short 5-weeks-posting, but I enjoyed a lot. It was different from the other postings such as Internal Medicine, Paediatrics, Surgery, and others - WE WERE FREE FROM HAVING TO WEAR WHITECOATS! YOOHOO. Definitely not something to be happy about, but it sure felt different la. Instead of going to the hospital and meet patients, in community medicine, we meet the community outside the hospital setting and do research.

I actually like going through research papers and journals. The process itself is fun, although it gives you headache. From that, we worked as a group to finish the research project. Our research was about cardiovascular disease risk and its relation with physical activity among residents in Kampung X.

My groupmates were discussing about our next plan. Oh, I miss the kampung!

It was really tiring to meet all the kampung residents and convince them to participate in our research. We needed them to fill in the questionnaires we prepared and we had to take their blood pressure, height and weight, and that was only 30-40% of the hassles we had to go through.

Hari-hari kepenatan sebab kena jumpa kampung residents untuk collect data for our research.

Brought along the stethoscope sebab kena check blood pressure kampung residents.

It was my birthday and roommates surprised me with cakes and a card! Love it so much sebab gambar Cardcaptor Sakura!!!

The textbook that I didn't manage to properly read.

One of the days I needed to find time to study for quizzes in between the ongoing research project. I love to watch study vlogs in between study breaks.

Went to library to study the paper we needed to criticize/appraise. This was part of the continuous assessment other than the quizzes. The paper was about Dengue Fever in Hanoi, Vietnam.

Back to hostel to prepare slides for paper appraisal presentation.

Did I mention I have lots of photos of my messy workplace? I love to take pictures of my study table.

Yee Mee Sizzling and Boba Milk Tea after paper appraisal presentation.

Apparently my friends also ordered the same thing. There's this one cafe inside my campus that serves a very decent sizzling menu.

At that time boba milk tea was the current trend.

That one time when our research supervisor belanja us pizza! Thank you Dr.!

That one time we went to Oldtown White Coffee to discuss with our supervisor about our research.

I ordered Hazelnut Coffee and it was a foolish decision. It tasted exactly like the 3-in-1 Oldtown White Coffee hazelnut. Added some ice cubes and then wallah, here comes the overpriced coffee. The bread was nice as I was hungry at that time.

Visited Hospital Jerantut as part of the posting. Rasa macam class trip.

Breakfast at Klinik Kesihatan at Jerantut. I was really happy at that time sebab jarang dapat breakfast makan berat-berat. Free pulak tu.

We stayed at a hotel in Jerantut for 2 nights. Bilik hotel sejuk ada aircond, nikmat dapat makan maggi cup and milo panas.

Discussion at the hotel lounge at Jerantut.

Early dinner at Jerantut. Karot susu tu sedap and very refreshing!

Roti canai at Jerantut.

Makan dan makan lagi.

We went to kawasan pedalaman naik boat. Best sangat! Melawat orang asal dan mandi sungai dan makan lagi hihihi.

Bila balik from Jerantut, settled my dinner with just maggi and sugarless iced americano because I was too lazy to cook.

Chicken grill and green tea.

Chicken grill again and iced latte. Both not more than RM10. Can only get this price in the cafe inside campus.

Fancy chicken grill that costs more than RM10. But sadly the portion was too small. Tak kenyang.

After exam ended, maka Community Medicine also ended. I took LRT from Gombak to go home. Rode my friend's car from Kuantan to Gombak.

Long story short, I accidentally rode KLIA transit to KLIA, sedar-sedar je dah sampai KLIA! LOL! Salah naik train. Membazir duit. Terpaksa topup touchNgo lagi. While I was there, I dropped by Gloria Jean's Coffee lepas solat maghrib.

Too sad sebab salah naik train, tapi terubat dengan Iced Mocha ni. This is the best Iced Mocha I've ever tasted, seriously 10/10. Nak nangis sebab sedap sangat barista tu buat. After that I naik the right train dan akhirnya berjaya sampai rumah.

Sekian. Thanks for reading.

Tried Family Mart snacks

April 08, 2020 14 Comments
Assalamualaikum and hai everyone!

Who loves Family Mart? Angkat tangan! *me*

Kinda sad Family Mart takde di Kuantan, so usually dapat merasa bila balik rumah je since I'm studying in Kuantan. These pictures are old pictures from last year, I was so busy to even open my blogger site, so I'm just gonna update now because I miss Family Mart! Let's pray that this COVID-19 pandemic resolves soon! Amin!

First let's start with Family Mart's ever popular oden! Kuah dia sangat pekat dan sedap. I'm not a fan of fish cakes/crab balls dan sebagainya itu, but I admit oden ni sangat sedap bila makan panas-panas!

Second, Iced Matcha Latte! This one is my no. 1 favourite among all Family Mart stuffs! I give 10/10 sebab sedap sangat!

Oden + Matcha Latte bergabung meletops!

Next, matcha roll cake. Not my taste. Honestly tak rasa sangat matcha tu, and red bean dia tak berapa umph, but still, uolls boleh try.

Strawberry Sando. The taste is just so-so, nevertheless, the visual is so pretty and the roti sangat lembut! Cuma strawberry je lah sikit sangat so macam tak mencukupi :-P

Samyang Espresso. As a coffee lover, I'm quite disappointed with this coffee. Sedap je, cuma very sweet la. You better drink this with lots of ice.

Sekian sahaja. Thank you for reading.

Recipe | Tteokbokki

April 07, 2020 12 Comments
Assalamualaikum dan hai.

Today I'm gonna share cara masak tteokbokki. Kekadang bila craving tu datang, faham-faham jelah. Nak senang, kita buat sendiri je! Hihihi.

Bahan-bahan yang diperlukan:
- Rice cakes 1 packet (I bought from Jaya Grocer, around RM9++ for 1 packet)
- 4 cups of water
- 1 tablespoon chilli powder/Korean chilli flakes (I used Baba's chilli powder jer)
- 1 tablespoon gula
- 1 batang green onion/daun bawang/whatever you call it
- Telur rebus
- Fish cakes seberapa banyak yang anda mahu

Cara-cara:
  1. Panaskan air sehingga mendidih.
  2. Masukkan ikan bilis/stok pati ikan bilis/stok pati ayam dan biar selama 5-10 minit.

Tips:
- Kalau nak lagi pedas, boleh tambah lagi chilli powder.
- Tteokbokki ni sedap bila makan panas-panas, jangan biar dia sejuk, nanti dah tak lembut/terlalu chewy.
- Pastikan beli Gochujang paste yang halal ya! Nanti tak berkat hidup!
